Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Information typed into a search tool is sent to the third-party company operating that tool, which processes the query and returns its own results. Horry County Warrant Records does not store or log the search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If a visitor sends a message to the site, the message is retained so a reply can be made. It stays within the site team and is not shared outside the organization unless a legal requirement calls for disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, technical details about the visit may be recorded, including:
- Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on them
- Referring site, if there was one
- Time stamps associated with page views
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, small files kept by a browser, to understand which pages get visits and where readers leave. Analytics services help combine that traffic information. Browser settings can block cookies; some site features may work differently afterward.
What We Do With This Data
Visitor information is used to keep the reference pages working and improve their performance. It may be used for these purposes:
- Maintain site availability and loading speed
- Route a search request to its outside provider
- See which pages readers use and where content needs work
- Find and correct technical problems
- Show advertising that may relate to visitor interests
No Warrant Data on File
Horry County Warrant Records does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of warrants or person-level warrant information. It provides general directions to the Sheriff’s Warrant Division, the Clerk of Court, and the municipal or magistrate court that controls a matter. The official Sheriff Warrant Info page and Horry Public Index have separate functions and access rules.
The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes are operated by outside providers. Information entered in a tool is handled under that provider’s own privacy terms, not this policy. The provider sets how long it keeps queries and whether information is shared. Read the provider’s notice before submitting a search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages link to Horry County offices, South Carolina courts, legal resources, and third-party search companies. Following a link takes a reader to another service, where that service’s privacy policy applies. Review its policy before providing personal information.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select ads. That tracking is handled by those partners, not by this site.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by the site. Some information may be handled by:
- Search providers that receive a query entered into their tool
- Analytics services measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place ads on pages
- Law enforcement or a public body when a valid legal order requires it
South Carolina FOIA applies to records held by public bodies and includes exemptions; it does not turn this private site’s visitor information into a public court file. See the South Carolina FOIA statute for the law’s scope and limits.
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect information collected by the site. No internet-connected service can promise that a breach will never occur. The site takes steps to safeguard data but cannot guarantee absolute security.
Users Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not designed for children. The site does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. South Carolina has separate confidentiality rules for certain juvenile court and law-enforcement records, including Title 63, Chapter 19; those public-agency rules do not make private case details suitable for posting here.
Your Data Rights
South Carolina FOIA, S.C. Code §§30-4-10 through 30-4-165, governs access to existing public records held by public bodies. It does not establish a general right to inspect or change data held by a private website. A visitor may still ask the site about information supplied in a message and request a correction or removal.
- Ask what message information the site retains
- Request a correction if a message detail is wrong
- Ask that a message be deleted when it is no longer needed
- Stop using or submitting data to an outside search provider
Search partners set their own data practices. Direct requests about a query to the provider that received it.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as site practices change. A revised version will replace the current text here and carry a new effective date. Review it again if the site is used later.
